Getting a number

Every assistant that answers calls needs a phone number. You buy numbers inside RingMind; there's nothing to set up with a phone company.

Before you start

  • Choose a plan in Subscription. Your plan sets how many numbers your workspace can have; the Phone Numbers page shows how many you've used.
  • Publish an assistant if you want the number to answer straight away. You can also buy first and connect later.
  • Only the workspace owner can buy. Admins can search and see prices.

Searching

In Phone Numbers, choose:

  • Country: the two-letter code, US or CA. Only US and Canadian numbers are offered today.
  • Type: Local (a regular number in a city or area code) or Toll-free.
  • City or Area code to narrow the results, for example Chicago or 312.

Each result shows the number, its region, the monthly price (plus any one-time charge) and what it supports, such as voice and SMS.

Buying

  1. Next to the number you want, choose which assistant should answer it, or Don't connect yet.
  2. Tick I accept the monthly charge.
  3. Choose Buy.

The number usually becomes active within a minute. While it shows Ordering, RingMind keeps checking with the carrier; if an order fails, the number is freed and doesn't count toward your plan, so you can pick another.

Common questions

Can I choose a vanity number? Search by area code and pick from what's available; specific digit patterns can't be requested.

Can I bring my current number? Not yet. For now, buy a new number for the assistant.

Texting from the number? SMS needs carrier registration in the US. See SMS, WhatsApp and taking over a conversation.
