First-line support calls
IT help desks, software companies and technical support lines hear a predictable mix: password and access problems, something that stopped working, how-to questions and urgent outages. The first job is the same every time: find out who it is, what's affected and how urgent it is. Callers also expect a clear answer about what happens next and when someone will get back to them.
How a RingMind assistant handles them today
No IT or technical support assistant is built yet. The General Business Receptionist can take these calls with your own instructions: it answers how-to questions from approved knowledge, collects the caller's name, contact details, the problem and its urgency, and takes a message or transfers the caller to someone on its transfer list. With Zendesk, Jira Service Management or ServiceNow connected (Beta) and the tools enabled, it can open a ticket or check a ticket's status. Knowledge integrations such as Confluence, Notion or SharePoint (Beta) let it answer from approved pages. Every call has a transcript, so the engineer who picks up the ticket can see exactly what the caller described without asking again.
Planned support assistants
These are planned, not available:
- IT Helpdesk Assistant, for first-line IT support and ticket creation
- SaaS Support Assistant, for product questions at software companies
- Troubleshooting Assistant, for guided troubleshooting
- Technical Support Receptionist, for routing technical support calls
Limits to know
Assistants never ask for or accept passwords, so they can't reset accounts or verify identity with credentials. They don't access your systems beyond the integration tools you enable, and changes such as updating a ticket need your confirmation when you enable them. A keypad menu can send callers to a person, the assistant or voicemail, and business hours can change how a number is handled, but the assistant's transfers go to the same five people at any hour.
Questions about AI assistants for it & technology
Is there an IT helpdesk assistant?
It's planned. Today, the general business receptionist can take support calls with your own instructions and open tickets through a connected help desk (Beta).
Can the assistant reset passwords?
No. Assistants never ask for or accept passwords. They take the request and pass it to your team.
Which help desks can it create tickets in?
Zendesk, Jira Service Management and ServiceNow, among others, all in Beta. See the integrations page for each one's actions.
Can it answer from our documentation?
Yes, from FAQs and pages you approve in its knowledge base, or from approved Confluence, Notion or SharePoint content when connected (Beta).
Can it escalate urgent outages?
It marks urgent messages so they're emailed to your team straight away, and it can transfer callers to people on its transfer list.
Built assistants have a full template and test suite and are offered once every test passes. Planned ones are on the roadmap — each page shows the built assistant to use today.
