The calls a shop or dealership gets
Auto repair shops, dealerships and rental desks hear the same questions over and over: Can I bring my car in this week? How much is an oil change? Is my car ready? Do you have this model in stock? What do I need to pick up a rental? Many come in while the team is busy in the bay or on the floor.
How a RingMind assistant handles them today
No automotive assistant is built yet. The General Business Receptionist covers the basics: it answers from your hours, services, prices you list and approved FAQs, takes service requests with the customer's name, number, vehicle and the problem, and transfers callers to up to five people on its transfer list. Connect a calendar (Beta) and it can book service slots; otherwise it takes requests your team confirms. Add your own instructions about the details you need, such as make, model and year.
Planned automotive assistants
These are planned, not available:
- Auto Repair Receptionist, for repair appointments and service questions
- Dealership Assistant, for inventory and service enquiries
- Car Rental Assistant, for rental enquiries and bookings
- Automotive Appointment Assistant, for service scheduling
Each planned assistant's page lists what it's meant to do and how to set up the general receptionist for the same calls. See AI receptionists for auto repair shops.
Limits to know
The assistant doesn't connect to shop-management, dealer or rental systems, so it can't tell a customer whether their car is ready or what's in stock unless you've added that to its knowledge. It doesn't make outbound calls to tell customers their vehicle is done; your team can call them from the business number with click-to-call. It never takes card details for deposits.
Questions about AI assistants for automotive
Is there an assistant built for auto repair shops?
Not yet; the auto repair receptionist is planned. Today, the general business receptionist answers from your services and prices and takes service requests.
Can it tell customers if their car is ready?
No. It doesn't connect to shop-management software, so it takes a message and your team calls back.
Can it book service appointments?
Yes, with Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook or Calendly connected (Beta) and booking enabled. Otherwise it takes a request with the vehicle details for your team to confirm.
Can it answer questions about inventory?
Only from what you add to its knowledge, such as an imported page you approve. There's no live inventory integration.
Can it take a deposit for a rental?
No. Assistants never accept card or bank details over the phone. Your team handles payments.
