What delivery and dispatch desks hear
Delivery, dispatch and transport businesses get calls from customers asking where a delivery is, drivers reporting problems, and people wanting to book a pickup or ride. Many are simple questions; some are urgent and need a dispatcher right away. Callers usually want a direct answer, and when there isn't one, confidence that the right person has their details.
How a RingMind assistant handles them today
No logistics assistant is built yet. The General Business Receptionist can answer these calls with your own details: service areas, hours, booking policies and the FAQs you approve. It takes booking and delivery requests with the caller's name, number, addresses and times, marks urgent issues so they're emailed to your team straight away, and transfers callers to up to five people on its transfer list, such as your dispatchers. With Airtable (Beta) connected it can look up or create records you choose, and Microsoft Teams (Beta) can notify your team about urgent requests. Texts and WhatsApp messages are handled the same way, and every conversation lands in the shared inbox, where your team can reply or take over.
Planned logistics assistants
These are planned, not available:
- Delivery Status Assistant, for delivery updates for customers
- Dispatch Assistant, for dispatch intake and routing
- Transportation Booking Assistant, for booking rides and transport
Limits to know
The assistant doesn't connect to tracking, fleet or dispatch software, so it can't give live delivery status unless that information is in a connected tool it's allowed to read. The assistant doesn't make outbound calls or send delivery notifications. Numbers are available in the US and Canada, and the transfer list is the same at any hour.
Questions about AI assistants for logistics
Can it tell customers where their delivery is?
Not from tracking systems; there's no tracking integration. It takes the details and your team follows up, unless you keep status in a connected tool such as Airtable (Beta).
Can drivers reach a dispatcher through it?
Yes. Add dispatchers to the transfer list of up to five people, and the assistant puts callers through.
Can it take pickup or ride bookings?
It takes booking requests with addresses, times and contact details. With a calendar connected (Beta) it can book into open slots.
Does it send delivery notifications?
No. RingMind replies to customers who contact you and doesn't send automatic notifications or calls.
Which assistant should a logistics business use today?
The general business receptionist, set up with your service areas, policies and instructions. Specialist logistics assistants are planned.
Built assistants have a full template and test suite and are offered once every test passes. Planned ones are on the roadmap — each page shows the built assistant to use today.
