General Business AI Receptionist

Start from the General Business Receptionist, add your service area and emergency instructions, and add your on-call electrician to the transfer list.

What it's planned to handle

Captures electrical job details and books visits.

  • Finds out what the job is: outlets, panel upgrade, lighting, EV charger or a fault.
  • Asks safety questions to spot sparking, burning smells or power loss and treats those as emergencies.
  • Checks the address is inside your service area.
  • Books an estimate or service visit, or takes a detailed message for the office.
  • Puts genuine emergencies through to the on-call electrician.

What you'd fill in

  • The services you offer and any you don't, such as commercial work
  • Your service area
  • What counts as an emergency and your after-hours policy
  • Your on-call electrician's number
  • Whether you charge for estimates or call-outs, in your own words

Questions it's meant for

Caller: “Half the house just lost power and the breaker won't reset.”
Caller: “Can you install a charger for my electric car?”
Caller: “There's a burning smell coming from an outlet in the kitchen.”

Rules it would follow

  • If a caller reports sparks, smoke, fire or a burning smell, tell them to stay away from it, leave if there is smoke or fire, and call 911.
  • If a line is down outside, tell them to stay well clear and call the power company's emergency line.
  • Never give instructions for electrical repairs.

How assistants are released

Each RingMind assistant ships with its own instructions, safety rules and a test suite, and is offered only once every test passes. Join early access to hear when this one is ready.

Tools it would work with

The phone rings while you're on a ladder

Electrical contractors spend the day in crawlspaces, panels and attics, where answering a call isn't safe or practical. Meanwhile the calls range from a quote for an EV charger to a burning smell from an outlet. The first can wait a few hours; the second can't, and the caller needs safety advice right away.

How the planned Electrician Receptionist is meant to work

The Electrician Receptionist is planned and not yet available. It is being designed to find out the type of job, ask safety questions to spot sparking, burning smells or power loss, check the address is in your service area, book an estimate or service visit, and put genuine emergencies through to the on-call electrician. It would never give repair instructions, and for sparks, smoke or fire it would tell callers to stay away and call 911.

  2. Additional instructions: write your emergency definitions and safety wording: for sparks, smoke, fire or a burning smell, stay away and call 911; for a line down outside, stay clear and call the power company's emergency line; never give repair instructions.
  3. Knowledge Base: add approved FAQs about estimates and call-outs in your own words. See the Knowledge Base guide.
  4. Transfer list: add your on-call electrician, then turn on Transfer calls in Tools.

Electrician AI Receptionist: questions

Is it available now?

Not yet. The Electrician Receptionist is planned. Today you can set up the General Business Receptionist with your emergency instructions, and join early access for the dedicated version.

What does it say about a burning smell or sparks?

Write your safety wording into Additional instructions: stay away from it, leave if there is smoke or fire, and call 911. Every RingMind assistant also directs life-threatening emergencies to 911.

Will it tell callers how to fix something?

It shouldn't. Add a clear rule that it never gives electrical repair instructions; the planned assistant treats this as a fixed rule.

Can it check whether an address is in my area?

It compares what the caller says with the service area you describe. It doesn't use maps, so list towns or postal codes clearly.

Can it reach my on-call electrician at night?

Yes, if they're on the transfer list. There's no on-call rota, so keep the transfer list up to date when the on-call person changes.

Will it quote a price for a panel upgrade?

Only prices you have written into your details or approved knowledge. Otherwise it offers an estimate visit or takes a message.
