An AI receptionist for electricians and electrical contractors

RingMind can answer your business line while you're working, take down the job and pass urgent calls to your team. The dedicated electrician assistant isn't built yet, so here's what works today.

Calls an electrical contractor gets

Most calls are planned work: a panel upgrade quote, new outlets in a kitchen, lighting for an extension, an EV charger installation, a landlord who needs an inspection. Some are urgent: power out in part of the house, a breaker that keeps tripping, a burning smell from an outlet. You're usually on a ladder or in a crawl space when the phone rings.

Where the electrician assistant stands

RingMind's catalog includes a dedicated electrician assistant, but it hasn't been built and tested yet. The status on this page updates when it is. RingMind only offers an assistant after it passes its automatic tests.

What you can use today

The general business receptionist is built for calls like these. You describe your trade in its business details and knowledge base:

  • Job intake. It takes the caller's name, best number, address and what they need, and reads the details back.
  • Your services and area. It answers from the services, prices and service area you list. If something isn't there, it offers to take a message.
  • Urgent messages. Messages marked urgent are emailed to your team and appear in Calls & Messages, where you can turn them into tasks.
  • Transfers. Add your on-call electrician or office to the transfer list (up to five people) once a RingMind number is connected.
  • Bookings. Connect Google Calendar or Calendly and it can offer open times for estimates and visits. Without a calendar, every booking is a request your team confirms.

You can add extra instructions, such as "treat a burning smell or sparking outlet as urgent". These aren't part of a tested brain, so try them in the chat playground before you rely on them.

What it won't do

  • It won't give electrical advice or walk a caller through a repair.
  • It won't quote prices you haven't listed or promise an arrival time.
  • It never takes card numbers, and it says it's an AI if asked.
  • If a caller describes a life-threatening emergency, such as a fire or someone who has been shocked, it tells them to hang up and call 911.

Setting it up

  1. Choose the general business receptionist on the AI assistants page.
  2. Enter your hours, service area and services.
  3. Add your common questions to the Knowledge Base: free estimates, permits, the brands of charger you install.
  4. Publish, run the tests and try a few calls in the playground.
  5. Get a RingMind number and connect it.

Limits to know

Numbers are US and Canada only, and porting isn't available yet. The assistant answers every call on its number; there are no time-of-day rules and no outbound calls. Integrations, including HubSpot, are in Beta. More trades are covered on the home services page. Plans are on the pricing page.

Questions

Is there an assistant made for electricians?

One is in the catalog but not built yet, and this page shows its live status. Today you can use the general business receptionist with your own services, service area and instructions.

Will it give callers electrical safety advice?

No. It takes the details and marks urgent calls for your team. For a life-threatening emergency, it tells the caller to call 911.

Can it book estimates?

Yes, if you connect Google Calendar, Calendly or Microsoft Outlook. Without a calendar, it takes the request and your team confirms.
