Call Screening AI Assistant
Planned — not yet availableRingMind Call Screening Assistant Brain · on the roadmap

For anyone who gets more calls than they can take and wants to know who is calling and why before deciding whether to pick up. It is planned to sort callers before anything reaches you.
Available to use today
Start from the Personal Secretary, describe in its instructions which kinds of callers matter to you and what counts as urgent, and add a backup person to the transfer list for calls that can't wait.
What it's planned to handle
Finds out who is calling and why before anything reaches you.
- Asks every unknown caller for their name and the reason for the call before going any further.
- Recognises people on your approved list and handles them the way you choose, such as putting them through.
- Spots common robocall, survey and sales patterns and ends those calls politely.
- Takes a clear message from everyone else and marks it as urgent or routine.
What you'd fill in
- The people or numbers you always want to hear from
- What counts as urgent for you, such as family, your child's school or a key client
- How to treat sales and survey calls: decline, take a message or ask them to email
- Who to transfer to when you are unavailable but something can't wait
Questions it's meant for
Rules it would follow
- Never confirm whether you are available, nearby or at home.
- Never share personal details with a caller who has not been recognised.
How assistants are released
Each RingMind assistant ships with its own instructions, safety rules and a test suite, and is offered only once every test passes. Join early access to hear when this one is ready.
Tools it would work with
The problem with unknown numbers
Most people now let unknown numbers ring out, because so many of them are robocalls, surveys and sales pitches. The trouble is that the school office, a new client or the clinic also call from numbers you don't recognise. Ignoring everything means missing the calls that matter; answering everything means losing time to the ones that don't.
How the planned screening assistant is meant to work
This assistant is planned and not yet available. It is being designed to ask every unknown caller for their name and reason before going further, recognise people on an approved list and handle them the way you choose, spot common robocall and sales patterns and end those calls politely, and turn everyone else into a clear message marked urgent or routine. It would never confirm whether you are home or available.
Use RingMind for this today
The Personal Secretary already answers your RingMind number, asks who is calling and why, and takes messages:
- Get a number: choose a US or Canadian number in Phone Numbers and connect it to the assistant. Calls to that number are answered by the assistant and only reach you if it transfers them. See phone numbers.
- Business details: add your name and the people whose messages should be flagged as important, such as family members or a key client.
- Additional instructions: describe what counts as urgent for you, how to treat sales and survey calls (decline politely, or ask them to email), and anything the assistant should never say.
- Transfer list: add a backup person, or yourself, for calls that can't wait, then turn on Transfer calls in Tools.
- Take a message: turn it on so every caller leaves a name, number, reason and urgency in Calls & Messages.
Be aware of what is not built: the assistant does not check caller numbers against your contacts and does not block calls automatically. It decides from what the caller says and your instructions. To follow the dedicated version, join early access.
Call Screening AI Assistant: questions
Is it available now?
Not yet. This assistant is planned. Today you can use the Personal Secretary to ask callers who they are and why they are calling, and join early access for the dedicated version.
Will it block robocalls?
Not automatically. You can instruct the Personal Secretary to end sales, survey and warranty calls politely, but there is no automatic blocking or number filtering yet.
Can it recognise people from my phone's contacts?
No. Checking callers against a contact list isn't built. You can list names whose messages should be flagged as important, and the assistant relies on what callers tell it.
How does it know what is urgent?
You describe it in Additional instructions, for example anything from your child's school or a named client. Messages are saved with their urgency so you can see the important ones first.
Will it tell a caller I'm at home or free?
No. The Personal Secretary is instructed never to confirm where you are, who you are with or when you will be back.
Does it work with my current mobile number?
It answers a RingMind number from the US or Canada. Mobile numbers usually can't be moved to RingMind without changing your carrier plan, so most people give out the new number for the calls they want handled.
