A virtual business phone number with an AI assistant on the line

Buy a local or toll-free number in the RingMind dashboard and connect it to your assistant. Every call to it is answered and recorded with a transcript.

Why a separate business number

Many small businesses start with the owner's mobile number on the website. Then every call interrupts the owner, personal and business calls get mixed up, and there's no record of who called or what they needed.

How it works in RingMind

  • Search for a number in Phone Numbers by area code or city. You can choose a local or toll-free number in the US or Canada.
  • Check the monthly charge shown for the number and confirm it. Only the workspace owner can buy numbers, and your plan sets how many you can have. See pricing.
  • Connect it to an assistant. Numbers are usually active within a minute, and from then on the assistant you choose answers every call.
  • Change it any time. Move the number to a different assistant or disconnect it whenever you like.

What one number gives you

  • Calls answered by your assistant, which uses your business details and knowledge base.
  • Transfers to up to five people, with the RingMind number shown as caller ID. See AI call transfer.
  • Messages taken with the caller's name, number, reason and urgency, in Calls & Messages.
  • Call history with transcripts of what the caller and the assistant said.
  • Contacts created automatically from calls and messages.
  • Texts and WhatsApp on the same number if you turn them on. See the AI SMS text assistant.

What the assistant on the line will and won't do

It answers questions, takes messages, transfers callers and, with a connected calendar, books appointments. It says it's an AI when asked, won't take card numbers, and tells callers in a life-threatening emergency to call 911.

Releasing a number

The owner can release a number when it's no longer needed, after confirming. The call history stays in RingMind, but a released number may be given to someone else and can't be recovered.

Limits to know

  • No porting yet. You can't move an existing number to RingMind; you get a new number in the dashboard.
  • US and Canada only, local or toll-free.
  • The assistant answers every call. Plain call forwarding without the assistant isn't available.
  • No outbound calls. The number receives calls; RingMind doesn't place calls from it yet.
  • No call recordings to play back. You get transcripts instead.
  • US texting needs registration. If you turn on SMS, US carriers require 10DLC registration for local numbers and verification for toll-free numbers before texts are reliably delivered.
  • Calls use your plan's AI minutes. Minutes beyond the plan are charged at your plan's rate, up to a monthly cap the owner sets.

Which countries are supported?

US and Canada, with local and toll-free numbers available.

Who can buy and release numbers?

Only the workspace owner. Buying needs a confirmation of the monthly charge, and releasing needs a confirmation too, because a released number can't be recovered.
