Visitors have questions now
People on your website often have one question before they act: do you serve my area, are you open on Saturday, how does returns work. A contact form makes them wait for an email, and many don't bother.
How it works in RingMind
- Turn on web chat on the assistant's page.
- Copy the embed snippet and add it to your website, the same way you'd add any other script tag.
- Visitors type their questions in a text chat window on your site, and the assistant answers.
It's the same assistant that can answer your phone, texts and WhatsApp, so it follows the same instructions and safety rules everywhere.
What it answers from
The assistant answers from your business details and your approved Knowledge Base:
- FAQs you write, used straight away.
- Pages from your website, imported one at a time and split into sections that you review before they're used.
- Documents in .txt or .md format.
Only approved items reach the assistant. After changing knowledge, publish the assistant again.
Doing more than answering
With integrations connected and their tools turned on, the assistant can do the same things in chat as on a call:
- Book appointments in Calendly or another connected calendar.
- Capture leads in HubSpot or another CRM. See AI lead capture.
- Open support tickets in Zendesk.
- Look up an order in Shopify after checking the customer's details.
Website-only tools
You can also give the chat website-only tools: actions carried out by your own site's code in the visitor's browser. You set them up under Integrations → Web chat, and RingMind generates example code for each tool for your developer to add to your site.
What the assistant won't do
- It won't pretend to be a person. It says it's an AI when asked.
- It won't accept card numbers, bank details or passwords in the chat.
- It won't make up answers that aren't in its knowledge. It says it doesn't know and offers to take a message.
- Sensitive actions, such as deleting records or anything involving money, wait for an owner or admin to approve them.
Limits to know
- The chat is text only. Visitors can't talk to the assistant by voice in the widget.
- Call transfers aren't available in chat; they need a phone call.
- Website imports take one page at a time, and PDF and Word documents aren't supported yet.
- Approved knowledge is shared by all assistants in your workspace.
- Website-only tools need someone who can edit your site's code. The basic chat only needs the snippet.
- All integrations are in Beta.
