Upload a document when your information lives in a file rather than on your website: a price list, policies or notes for the front desk.
Uploading
- Open Knowledge Base.
- Under Upload a document, choose a file.
- Choose Upload.
Supported files
- .txt or .md (Markdown) files, saved as UTF-8 text.
- Up to 512 KB per file.
- PDF and Word aren't supported yet. Open the document, copy the text into a plain text file and upload that instead.
How it's split
RingMind splits the document at its Markdown headings (lines starting with #), then into smaller pieces if a section is long. Each piece is named after its heading, so clear headings make review easier:
# Cancellation policy Cancel at least 24 hours ahead to avoid a fee.
Like web pages, uploaded sections wait under Needs review until you approve them. See Reviewing and approving.
Tips
- Write the way you'd answer a caller. Short paragraphs work better than tables.
- Remove anything you don't want the assistant to repeat, such as internal notes or staff phone numbers.
- Upload one topic per file if you can; it's easier to replace later.
Good to know
A workspace can have up to 100 knowledge sources. To replace a document, delete its source and upload the new version.
