What it's planned to handle
Front desk for law firms.
- Identifies whether the caller is a client, another lawyer, a court or someone new.
- Takes detailed messages for the right attorney or paralegal, with deadlines noted.
- Puts urgent calls, such as a court clerk or a client with a same-day deadline, through to the team.
- Shares office hours, location and how to drop off documents.
- Passes new matters to your intake process with a short description.
What you'd fill in
- Attorneys and staff and which matters they handle
- Practice areas you take and those you don't
- Which callers should be transferred straight away
- Office hours, address and document drop-off instructions
Questions it's meant for
Rules it would follow
- Never give legal advice, predict outcomes or say whether someone has a case.
- Never confirm whether someone is a client of the firm or discuss any matter with an unverified caller.
- Make clear that no attorney–client relationship exists until the firm confirms it in writing.
How assistants are released
Each RingMind assistant ships with its own instructions, safety rules and a test suite, and is offered only once every test passes. Join early access to hear when this one is ready.
Tools it would work with
More than new intakes
A law firm's front desk handles far more than new clients. Court clerks call about hearings, opposing counsel wants a callback, existing clients have same-day deadlines, and couriers need to know where to drop documents. Each caller needs to reach the right attorney or paralegal with a precise message, and nothing confidential can slip.
How the planned Law Office Receptionist is meant to work
The Law Office Receptionist is planned and not yet available. It is being designed to identify whether the caller is a client, another lawyer, a court or someone new; take detailed messages for the right attorney with deadlines noted; put urgent calls such as a court clerk through to the team; share office hours and drop-off instructions; and pass new matters to your intake process. It would never give legal advice, never confirm whether someone is a client, and would make clear that no attorney–client relationship exists until the firm confirms it in writing.

Law Office AI Receptionist: questions
Is it available now?
Not yet. The Law Office Receptionist is planned. Today you can set up the Legal Intake Receptionist with your attorneys and routing rules, and join early access for the dedicated version.
Will it give legal advice?
No. It won't give legal advice, predict outcomes or say whether someone has a case. It explains that an attorney will review the matter.
Can it put a court clerk straight through?
Yes. Add the attorneys or paralegals to the transfer list and describe in instructions which callers to transfer immediately.
Will it confirm that someone is a client?
It shouldn't. Add that rule to Additional instructions and keep client names out of the knowledge base.
Does it create an attorney–client relationship?
No. The template makes clear that no attorney–client relationship exists until the firm confirms it in writing.
Can it run a conflict check?
It collects the names of other parties for new matters so your team can run the check. It doesn't check them itself.
